You will learn how to read music and develop essential playing techniques, whilst exploring a range of accessible and enjoyable repertoire. The course covers posture, tone production, and basic fingerstyle technique, helping you to build confidence and musical awareness week by week.
There will also be opportunities to play together as an ensemble, developing listening skills, rhythm, and a sense of shared music-making. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those returning to the instrument, the class provides a clear and progressive approach in an engaging and sociable setting.
Your Instructor
Brian Firkins
Brian is a classical guitarist (but teach all styles) trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, with over 25 years’ teaching experience across both individual and group settings. Brian specialises in structured group tuition and has a strong track record of preparing both children and adult students for graded exams and further study or purely for an enrichment activity.
Brian is Director of Cardiff Music School based at Chapter Arts Centre.
