We are a welcoming space to help you gain confidence and develop your skills with professional guidance from experienced tutors. We cover a variety of mediums to enable you to find the right course. 

Art courses

Acrylic & Mixed Media

Paint Tubes

This course explores acrylic painting in combination with wet and dry media. Some experience with art making is recommended, however, demonstrations are provided for all abilities to follow.

The course covers both representational and expressive abstract art making. It will cover practices combining; acrylic, charcoal, acrylic mediums, gesso, pen and inks and/or conte/pastels.

Explore fundamental drawing techniques in pencil and charcoal including use of tone and line, perspective light and shadow, structure and composition to build a strong drawing foundation.

We use a variety of life models. Students will be able to explore different techniques and styles to represent the human body; whilst being encouraged in their own style.
The tutor will guide the class, responding to individual need with encouragement and advice.

STILL LIFE-

LIGHT & COLOUR

Working with oils/acrylics, this Still life course offers the opportunity to use everyday objects and engage with the concerns of composition, form, quality of light and texture.

During the course you will use a variety of models, and students will be able to explore different techniques and styles to represent the human body whilst being encouraged in your own style.

Printmaking

An introduction to key techniques in printmaking. The course contains Relief Printing techniques, (collagraph, block printing, lino-cut) and intaglio techniques (applied to collagraph, engraving, safe-wash etching), silk screen printing, cyanotype and photograms. We will be exploring the versatility of printmaking and its uses in conjunction with painting and collage. We will apply our designs to textile (cotton, linen), paper, card, vinyl, wood and Perspex, to create a wide range of items which explore the rich creative journey that printmaking can open up for people.

EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING

Painter in Studio

This experimental drawing class is about giving yourself permission to play and create without limitations, judgement or criteria, to promote an individual, playful and explorative approach to creative expression.

The essence of the creative process itself is explored through the medium of drawing and painting using mixed media.

NOTE

You can still join a class after the term has started if there is space available.

You can also join term two or three regardless of having done term one depending on the course subject.
